Suffolk isn’t just unique because of its efficiency and strong results under the Conservatives. It is also a forerunner in many different areas:

Culturally, our county is the home to the likes of the musical genius Benjamin Britten and artistic icons, such as John Constable. Most notably we are proud to be the home of British Horseracing at Newmarket, which will play a key role in the London 2012 Olympics. Suffolk is welcoming to all generations with notable examples including the music festival Latitude.

Economically, our county prides itself in being an attractive working environment to all sectors of the national economy. Suffolk has some of the most fertile land in the Eastern Region for cereal crops, and in doing so is commonly known as the ‘Breadbasket’ of the UK. Manufacturing too finds our county an appealing base, with established companies like Bosch in Stowmarket and Adnams of Southwold providing valuable local employment and commerce. Furthermore, respected hi-tech corporations like BT in Martlesham successfully enable Suffolk to play a key role in the electronic age.

Our local environment, ranging from the RSPB’s Minsmere Sanctuary to the Redgrave & Lopham Fen is amongst Britain’s most beautiful and unspoilt areas.  I am fully committed in nurturing this beauty, and preserving it for present and future generations to enjoy.
